    Hello.

I am looking at buying a IWC Yacht Club (circa 1969) to match my fathers and wanted to solicite the wisdom of this forum first.

Specifically the watch has listed a Works (Movement?) Number starting 194xxxx and a Case Number starting 192xxxx.

So, should I be concerned that the two numbers don't match?
(Were they less precise in the "old days"? or are they not meant to match?)

Any advice is appreciated for a "newbie".

    J.

    Hi James,
Welcome to the forum. The case and movement numbers in IWC watches are not designed to match, unless in a small number of Royal Navy Deck Watches with cal 52SC and cal 71.
I would actually be somewhat concerned of the numbers coincided.

Excellent. Thank you for the advice / clarity.
I am now more confident with making the purchase.
