I recently investigated a bit into "generation 1" IWC Yacht Clubs, reason being that I might want to chase a white gold Yacht Club with the corresponding white gold bracelet.
Checking in my old 1972 and 1974 catalogs and in addition reading related posts in this forum, I find the following facts:
- there was the 1811 in (among others) 18K YG/WG with croco strap
- there was the 9205 in 18K YG/WG with the (YC-custom-made?) 18K bracelet
The 18K bracelet is described at length in the 1972 catalog.
So, the questions I would have are:
- apart from the bracelet configuration, is there any type of difference on the watch itself between the 1811 in 18K and the 9205?
- was the YC 18K bracelet also being sold stand-alone? For exapmle if someone bought a 18K ref. 1811 (i.e. with leather bracelet) and wanted later to "up-grade" to 18K bracelet?
I am aware that this is very specific but still, the wealth of knowledge in this forum gives hope to get some guidance on those questions.
Thanks, HSTE
