So, SIHH may have sunk in by now, from the huge set of pictures here we could build our opinion. Some of us were even better informed, having seen the watches on their wrist. Sometimes the flash is there: you just know that THAT watch is built for you. Because of this, some may already have ordered a watch. That happened to me in 2009: after the great gathering in Schaffhausen I went straight to my AD and ordered de rose gold Vintage Collection Portuguese, still a huge favourite of my collection.

So the question is: have you seen a watch that is eating into your mind, making you want it to be yours in the near future? Or, a bit less strong: that really is on the top of your list, but you are not sure yet if you want to buy it?

Several watches went through my mind, and the winner for me, maybe or maybe not on my wrist somewhere in 2016, is the new regular Big Pilot. It just looks fantastic, it looks quite perfect to me. Also, the movement is a treat: where can you go wrong?

I wonder whether you are lightly or heavily bitten by a watch, reviving the virus that comes along with it.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Good question and I think we ALL have at least (!) one watch on the 'wish list'. I can't get the 2015 version of the Yachtclub Portuguese in steel/ardoise out of my head, which I also like for it's slightly smaller case. On the right in this picture:

Furthermore, I do like almost all new Pilot's just announced at SIHH, but I already have a few and, like you I think, I like diversity.

    Let's see what 2016 brings!

    Groeten,

    Bob

I liked the pictures of the Mark XVIII Miramar, but wish they'd lose the Top Gun logo. At least it is on the reverse rather than the side like it once was.

IWC presented a world class collection this year IMHO, and I really think the pilot line overall took a great leap forward. I may be one of the few Forumers who actually have yet to acquire a pilot watch, but I think 2016 may be the year to correct that.
The BP Heritage pieces were much anticipated and even if I knew the 55mm would be just too big for me I was looking forward to seeing the 48mm. Even if my initial impression was somewhat subdued due to the lack of a centre seconds, IWC got every other aspect of the watch 100% right - and it is growing on me.
So maybe there will be one on my wrist in 2016? We'll see :-)

Overall, I think IWC definitely moved to the right direction with the new Pilots' collection, but none of the new models presents an immediate threat to my bank account. This comes with the caveat, that I have not seen any of the new models live yet.

For me, the heritage models are practically unwearably big, and the usage of existing calibers compromises their design, imho.

I like the new BPs, both the standard model and especially the Le Petit Prince model, but I'm afraid that due to their size, they would not get enough wrist time.

As for the rest - I already have a MK XII Pt LTE, a Spitfire MK XVI, a Spitfire chrono Laureus LTE, and a CF3. The likeliest candidate for my next purchase is a MK 11, if I can find a nice one at a reasonable price.

IWC's collection this year is very strong in my opinion. The update of the regular BP is very well done, watches in lower price segments were introduced, and there was a, what I call, surprise watch (Timezoner). Just a few things that made me happy.

I am not ordering one because, well...I see a lot of nice watches every day and for that reason my wishlist is subject to a lot of changes. One watch that is on my wishlist for a long, long time however is the Laureus Portuguese Classic. I was lucky enough to have it on my wrist during the SIHH for which I am still really grateful. It is a watch that I am personally really attracted to. I think a blue dialed watch would fit my collection very well, but the BP is a bit to chunky for my taste.

So for know I am silently saving up for a next purchase, but I am not sure yet which one it will be.
