Hello I am new here and arrived after finding a mention online about this group and and article from 15 years ago!  I have a late 60s serial movement cal89 iwc and a case serial i think is 1979s with what looks to be the gold plated zwyro custom movement. Very little info available online and so I am here looking for information. Thank you.

I agree, there's not a lot of info on the Zwyro Cal 89 gold-plated movement. Have you tried reaching out to IWC collectors or forums dedicated to vintage watches? They might have some insights. Looking forward to hearing more about your find!

Thanks for your reply. I have not - I started here bc this was mentioned in the article. This was my first “forum” ever and its a little hard to figure out. Do you have a link to that?

Welcome. You’ve come to the right place.

Zwyro cases were aftermarket and not made by IWC, but it’s quite common to see genuine IWC Cal 89 movements housed in them, especially from that era. That’s why there isn’t much official information. The movement itself is solid and well regarded, even if the case isn’t original IWC.

If you can share a few clear photos of the movement and case markings, it’ll be much easier for members here to help identify it more precisely.

I did!  I reached out to marcus siems and he was able to authenticate it and added my watch to this article.
