It's going to be interesting to see what the final design of this CF BP will reveal. Although, we pretty much know that it will be largely the dial that will undergo the changes. I hope that a  steel case will be part of this 'new' BP. Just keep it simple chaps. There's not much that resembles the BP in its pure form at it stands from IWC. Certainly not with the increasing complications that are now mainstream with many BP models. I went for a very well looked after 5004-01,as my preferred BP. Not even the 9 on the dial,swayed my interest.

I'm in agreement with all the above comments: reversing the the minute hand in small increments won't damage the mechanism. However, it's best to avoid changing during the midnight date change.

If you want a finite answer to the paticular behaviour of the BP calibre 52110,it's best that you contact SCHAFFHAUSEN directly,since most,if not all  boutique staff,have very limited,in my experience, knowledge about IWC watches. In the mean time, don't wind your watch anti-clockwise.

The year of the boring ingenieur. Looks like hundreds of other lumps of metal cased watches available on the watch market. What a wasted exercise on design,IWC.

Ironic. I thought that an ME109 would have been more appropriate.

Likewise.i think that IWC missed the point somewhat with the heritage model pilot watches. Apart from the design,steel would have been the the correct choice of material for the case.The weight of the original 55mm B-UHR was 183gramms. What's that in today's watch world,when large cases watches far exceed that weight,and people still wear these heavy timepieces. Take for example the ingenieur 322701,that watch weighs in at 220gramms.

Well,if it hasn't been opened in the past,then as you say,be very careful to whom you entrust to examine the watch,excluding schaffausen of course. If the watch has a great deal of sentimental value,and by accounts so far,it would seem that the watch has some historical value,which is another reason to have the watch restored.I'd be inclined to send it to schaffausen yourself by a registered courier.

Unfortunately,the mindset of the Chinese is sell! sell! sell! Don't accept their excuses. 30secs a day is abnormal even with running-in a new movement factored into the equation.
