Is there any reason to be concerned about AR coating of IWC watches becoming degraded by exposure to saltwater? I would imagine that the same kind of AR material is used on Aquatimer and other sports lines from the same years?

The FAQ section of IWC web site only says to rinse watch well after exposure to saltwater. And the search results within this forum show previous discussion on AR coating scratching and such. No mention of saltwater specifically.

    Thanks for any advice.

Saltwater will not affect the AR coatings. Beware of scratching the surface, however. When there is sand or other underwater objects are around, scratching can happen.

Noted with many thanks, Bill. Will be sure to take proper care where sand, stone and those other elements are concerned.
