I would like to check if this IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun is original or a replica.

    Here are the photos:

    •  Front

    •  Back (with the big Top Gun logo)

    •  Dial close-up

    •  Any other details

Serial number on the case back: 3354643

I already see the big colorful Top Gun emblem on the case back, which I suspect is not on genuine models. What do you think?

    Thank you!

This is not correct, the ref IW378901 did had this colored  Top Gun logo on the back.

It’s interesting that the colorful TOP GUN logo on the case back caused some confusion, since it was actually used on early genuine models. Still, photos alone aren’t enough to confirm authenticity with complete confidence. site Having the serial number and reference checked by an authorized IWC service center seems like the safest way to be sure before buying or selling the watch.

This thread shows why a service center check is worth it even when the watch looks right at first glance. Having the serial and reference confirmed by an authorized center seems like the safest way to settle it.

The case-back logo is worth checking, but it’s best not to judge authenticity from that detail alone. I’d recommend sharing clear photos of the dial, case back, movement, and reference number with an authorized IWC service center. They can verify the serial number and confirm whether the watch is genuine.

This thread is exactly why I joined the forum. As a newcomer I would have looked at that colorful Top Gun logo on the case back and assumed the worst, so the detail about the early IW378901 casebacks is really valuable to learn. Thanks to everyone who shared their knowledge here. Threads like this make the collecting side feel a lot less intimidating.
