I have been offered a Cal 8541 IWC watch in a 38mm stainless steel case.
Having not seen this caliber in such a large case, I wonder whether this could be an authentic IWC vintage at all?
I would much apreciate any information to clarify this matter.

the IWC Ref. 810 A measures 34.7mm in diameter without the crown, 36.8mm with the crown. Are you sure about the 38mm, i can hardly imagine that the same reference comes in two different sizes. Please see the pictures below.
