Will there be a collectors meeting this year? Last year I missed the announcement, therefore I decided to keep my eyes peeled this year. I haven't seen a post from Tonny on this subject; maybe I missed it already? Is anything known yet?

I'm in California, so I can't just just hop into the car and drive over to Schaffhausen ;-)

    Super, thanks, Tonny!

A related question: I have read (on a different forum) that people have run into expensive difficulties with Swiss customs when entering Switzerland with more than one watch. If I remember correctly, people (watch collectors) got dinged for import fees, some even when crossing on foot at Basel train station to visit the Basel watch fair. It almost seemed like Swiss customs was on the lookout for watch collectors...

Is there a recommended safe procedure to avoid this, if one wants to bring more than one watch? Or is it better to stick to just one watch, even if it means leaving an interesting piece at home?

I have heard similar stories around Basel events, especially when carrying multiple boxed pieces. Probably safest to travel light unless someone here has recent firsthand experience with Swiss customs.

These stories are known to me, but during such jig events like Watches and Wonders, customs know that a lot of watch people are coming in the country. Our meeting is famous too, but I guess doesn't get hat attention. It is always safer to have documents to prove your watch was bought before your trip.

I can see how having the purchase documents might help for the travel back to the home country, but that might not convince Swiss customs that you are not importing a watch to sell it.

For the US, there is also customs form 4457 to prove you had the watch before you left the country, but do the Swiss recognize that as indicating intent to return with the watch? https://www.cbp.gov/document/forms/form-4457-certificate-registration-personal-effects-taken-abroad
