Fellow IWC owners: Daily wearers, special occasion pieces, or "safe queens"?

Hi everyone,

As a proud (and perhaps overly cautious) owner of an IWC, I wanted to reach out to fellow enthusiasts here to hear how you handle wearing such fine timepieces.

Right now, I am still very much in the initial excitement phase of my purchase. ( A $55,000 watch )

 However, to be completely honest, my watch is currently sitting safely in its glass display case. I haven't had the heart to wear it out yet, mostly out of a lingering fear of getting that very first scratch or bump!

I am very curious to know how others approach this dilemma:

• Do you wear your IWC as an everyday companion?
• Do you reserve it strictly for special occasions and formal events?
• Or did you also go through a "safe queen" phase when you first bought yours before finally taking the plunge and wearing it?

I would love to hear your thoughts, experiences, and how you overcame (or embraced) the fear of wearing your prized pieces.

Thats a good question and you will get 100 different answers. For myselfe, I do wear my watch every business day, on the weekend for special occasions or at least if there is no Sports activity since 12 years now.

Personally I would wear the PPC for special occations and also during the week. If it would be only on occations (because I would have more than 1 piece) I would take it into a watchwinder to have it set and ready all the time.

Ps. I'm using "wolf" Watch Winder 24/7. 

I try to wear all my watches out of the house, but I'm a bit more careful where I take the fancier ones (like, probably not to a car service appointment, or buying firewood at the hardware store; if I remember...).

I'm currently a bit conflicted about travel, I usually take a safe 'sturdy' choice, so I'm curious what others here have to say.

I had the same issue. That’s why I’ve built up a small collection of IWC timepieces over time. I rotate a few of them for daily wear, while keeping two for special occasions. My fear of accidentally damaging an IWC—or getting those dreaded "swirls"—vanished after I visited IWC in Schaffhausen and saw just how professionally their service department operates. I sent an IWC in for servicing, and it came back looking brand new. 

So, don’t be afraid to wear your IWC; that’s what they’re made for. That’s exactly what makes wearing an IWC such a special pleasure.

For me, a large investment in a watch does not come easily. I'm still at the stage of mustering up the courage to take the watch for a "trip" outside the box ...
