My 8541ES doesn't have date quick set function. Dates only advance by turning hour-hand for 24 hours.......

Is it normal? For earlier movement in 1970s?

    Thanks

    Hi Pang,

sure it has, just set the time to midnight, the date changed forward. The set the hands backwards to about 11:45 PM and then turn forard to 0:15, the date changes forward again. Repeat this until you have the correct date. There is no harm to the mechanism doing that.

The 8541 is a pearl of a movement.

    Hi Pang

The method Cromagnonman described is slower than a modern quick date setting, which is often found in crown position 1.

But if you try the 23.45 to 0.15 and backwards method, you will find out that it is quite fast. The 8541 is an excellent movement!
