    Hi all,

I am the lucky owner of a new IW3717 and soon I have to travel to Europe from Australia. Therefore, I need to adjust the time 8 hours earlier than the timezone I am in now.
My question is: can I just adjust the time counter clockwise or can I only adjust it clockwise? I obviously do not want to damage the movement or date mechanism.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

A safe way to do it is to start at the moment the watch shows about 4:00 o'clock IN THE AFTERNOON (be sure it is NOT 4:00 o'clock in the morning, or you will damage the movement!). You can then safely adjust the watch backwards through 12 o'clock to 8:00 o'clock in the morning. Have a nice trip!

    Kind regards,
    Paul

I have the same problem. I´m flying to Europe from Buenos Aires and I need to add four hours when going and substract the same amount in the return trip. So when again at home, must I wait to 16PM to have the local time again?. It seems not very practical, considering that I will arrive at home about 7AM, so I will wait 9 hours to have the right time again. Isn´t it?

I forgot to said that the 3717 instructions manual forbid corrections between 8PM and 2AM. Is this valid only for adding corrections?
And a second question: Is the same valid for the Pilot UTC or in this watch I can add or substract hours anytime? Many thanks in advance.

I could state this in a different way: don't adjust the watch backwards when the starting point or end point lays between 20:00 (8:00 PM) and 4:00 (4:00 AM). I am at the safe side here, but better be safe than sorry: the whole area around midnight is the vulnerable part for most movements. If I am correct, an exception is the movement of the UTC: this movement can be adjusted as you like or need, even the date seems to get adjusted backwards. That thus is a true travellers watch.

@Hector: Buenos Aires? Say Hallo to El Palomar, I lived there for 9 years, long ago.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Many thanks Pablo for your answer. I will travel with my UTC.
El Palomar is not near my house because I live in Belgrano, in the North of Buenos Aires city, and El Palomar is outside the city, in the Gran Buenos Aires área. Did you work in the military airport of El Palomar?
    Kindest regards,
    Hector

Thank you for your answers Pablo. Much appreciated. I now have peace of mind when I'm adjusting the time.
