Well, it is about time I introduced myself into the Collectors' Forum. I have been an IWC enthusiast since many years now. I come from a family who have always been into mechanical watches. My grandfather was a watch trader, my father was a mechanical watch admirer. I remember that when I was young, I used to like listening to the sound of my father's automatic watch rewinding, I must have held his wrist a thousand times.I have been into wristwatches all my life, but only in the 90's my interest turned to IWC. Not to be reached financially at he time, but I startede to learn everything there is to learn about IWC. I started out bying and selling vintage IWC watches, like calibre 88 and 89's and selling them in order to make some money for a contemporary IWC. Even came across Adrian (alwaysiwc) in this way. After years of saving I finally bought my dream watch, an IWC Potuguese Chrono in pink gold. Unfortunately I had to sell it one year later, due to financial setbacks. After that I started all over again and saved for a new IWC. I have had in my posession a Portofino and a Ingenieur AMG, but also these had to go too soon, because of financial reasons again.... It hurts letting a watch go if you have fallen in love with it. A few months ago I have have bought a very special IWC. It is a Ingenieur CLS 55 AMG, which is limited to 55 pieces. As I read in the Forum, there are actually 165 pieces, 55 each for the Europe, Asia and USA. I have a one of 55 intended for the USA, and very proud of owning it! This one I am not letting go!

    Hello & welcome!!!!

There are always many reasons why a collection is a moving target and you seem to have passed through a couple of experiences.

Happily, you are back in the saddle with a great watch, congrats!

Please post the obligatory photos ;-)))

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your IWC collecting story.

I hope you not only keep this watch but with an anticipated flurry of new Ingenieurs potentially arriving in 2013 - perhaps a chance to add more ....

Now that's a piece we don't see everyday.

Congrats Melchior and welcome to the forum. How intertwined our watches are with our daily lives - trials, tribulations, our functional companions, our emotional partners...

Welcome to our Forum Melchoir. I also recently aquired a322707 1/55 AMG CLS 55 to join my other two Ingenieurs 3228 & 323310 Laureus. I am awaiting a new titanium bracelet that I ordered to replace the Kevlar strap which has cracks & wear at the buckle. Mine keeps excellent time and feels light on the wrist for it's size. Wear it in good health & good fortune!

Unfortunately we all have wait until January - unless our moderator is able to give any previews before hand. This forum is the best place to be pre SIHH.

    Hello Michael,

What a warm welcome from everyone. It's nice to get all these replies from all over the world from people who all share the same passion. I read a lot of your comments to other members. Now to get a reply also feels like a reply from a famous person..... Thanks!

Thank you! I agree especially with your last words. To me, watches really are an emotional partneralthough my girlfriend doesn't understand...You know, a watch is with you everyday, with everything you experience. New things, achievements, setbacks, etc. They last and are 100% faithfull. That's why I do not have the intention of letting my Ingenieur go....
