I have a question for the gang here. I got my Big Pilot earlier this year and
over the 5 odd months of owning it, the watch seems to run consistently 10
seconds fast a day. It has dominated my rotation so the watch rarely falls to
less than 4 days of power, isochoronism shouldn't be the issue here. I wanted
to see if other people with Big Pilot has experienced the same with their
watches? I called my AD and was told from the IWC rep this falls within their
accuracy specs for the movement, and my Big Pilot has the updated movement
    52110.

    Thanks in advance!

Mine doesn't seem as extreme as +10 seconds a day but it definitely has a
tendency to run fast rather than slow compared to my other watches. I wonder
what is the best position to store the watch in overnight to help this issue
    (if at all)

The best position to lose a few seconds during the night is vertical with
    crown up.

In contrast, leaving the watch flat with the dial up leads to a slight gain.
So if you did it this way up to now and use the crown up position instead, you
    might well get whithin specs.

My BP is exactly the same... certainly a bit too much to my liking but not
enough to send it in for re-adjustment...

Thanks Lyles, I will try it in the next few days and see how it works!

    Hi,

I was looking at a big pilot yesterday with the latest 52110 movement. I have
several nice watches and am very particular about accuracy. Currently my worst
watch in terms of timekeeping loses about 35 seconds over a month which is
comfortably within COSC test standards. My best one is a Bremont which
gained about 15 seconds over a couple of months.

Are IWC watches tested by COSC and is the big pilot really as inaccurate as
the forums seem to say - I couldn't live with a watch that gained 10 seconds a
day no matter how good it looks!

    Hi Clive,

I'm not sure if all Big Pilots are the same in terms of accuracy, some others
have said theirs are within the COSC specs. And I don't believe IWC submits
their watches to COSC. I also have a Portuguiser IW5454 and that's 5 seconds
fast a day, but obviously different movement and much older watch.

    During a tour through IWC's
manufacture sites this spring, our guide said, that the IWC-standard for
accuracy was +0 until +7 seconds within 24 hours. An IWC should never be slow.

Yes, currently all IWC watches leaving the factory are supposed to operate
within -0/+7 seconds per day. COSC is -4/+6. I have an early vairent of the
movement that gained one second over the course of a month but that is not
typical. A movement's rate depends on multiple factors including the way it
was adjusted, it's operating tempreature and how it is worn (and rested).
Having it adjusted correctly will definitely help.

So I have this exact movement in my BP little Prince and like the OP,
initially this watch gained around 9.75 seconds per day. I was placing the
watch back in it's original IWC box face up each night.

About a month ago I started to place it crown up on top of the box or shelf
during the night and then started taking measurements daily on one of the
apps. After 23 measurements, the watch now keeps an average of 6.05 sec/day.

Definitely keep it crown up at night to slow the movement a bit.

    Hi Jeff,

I am also a bit of a stickler when it comes to accuracy. After testing my new
BP in all positions with 2, 5, 7 days power reserve I have found that
somewhere between 2-3 days PR, with crown up delivers an average gain of 3
    seconds per day.

The other positions vary quite remarkably. So I tend to keep
it at around this PR and positioning and the results have been acceptable
