Henrik, going back through these photos two and a half years later, the 2023 Ingenieur reveal still stands out as one of the more consequential IWC launches of recent memory. At the time there was a lot of debate about whether IWC could genuinely revive the Genta lineage without it feeling like a tribute act, and looking at how the collection has performed since, both critically and on the secondary market, I think the answer is clear. The 40mm cases proportions, the integrated bracelet finishing, and the grid dial all landed in a way that very few integrated sports watch reissues manage.
The black dial reference in particular has aged into a genuine modern classic, and the titanium versions that followed in 2024 only strengthened the case. It is one of those rare situations where a brand took a calculated risk on a polarising design and the market rewarded the conviction rather than punishing it.
Thanks for keeping the photos up, threads like this become useful reference points for collectors trying to understand how a launch was received in the room versus how it played out commercially. Glad you got to be there for it.
Ben, also noted your comment further up the thread, fair observation.
