just for fun, here are my 3 lonely pilots together.

All 3 are limited editons, one on 27 pieces, one 100 and one 200 pieces only.

Sandblasted steel, titanium and ceramic cases.

Hapy with this little subcollection of pilots.

PS : why lonely pilots ? they have no dates
    ;)

Three very rare birds that have, at least, each other for company. Quite a set
    of dateless delights!

Awesome trio Tonny and David as well. Congrats.

David, your Mark XV was exactly my very first IWC watch on that awesome
bracelet. Pure classic! And it was lucky cause it had a date ;-)

Picture is from 19. March 2005.That little boy is a grown up man today.

Unfortunately don't have that watch anymore :-(

My main issue with "Having More than One Watch" ... is justifying this to my
    partner.

Clearly, the same money could have been used for other things, and I have
    assisted with unrelated purchases.

Considering Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, a Watch Collection is somewhere
    between "Aesthetic" and "Self-actualization".

The benefit is very obvious to me, otherwise I would not have spent the money:
every time I look at them, I get pleasure from seeing small mechanical marvels
that also happen to tell the time.

But still I get comments along the lines of "To the people that work for me,
that is the same price as a car".

The character "Gollum" from the Lord of the Rings has also been mentioned.

Do others have a strategy to justify a watch collection, or a different way of
    framing it?

    Thanks.

The Mk XV has just come back from a service / case refresh, and looks new
    again.

It was bought in 2001, and has sentimental value to me.

I wear that when a smaller / lighter watch is more appropriate.

I'd just say: We're all in the same boat - more or less!

We've all gone through these phases and are still going.

Justifying beatiful things that cost money is never easy. But once you're over
it, you'll be able to enjoy it to the Max.

Congrats again on the newly restored Mark XV. I'm sure it's beautiful as on
    the first day.
