Dear all,
as some of you will have already seen since early April on amazon and ebay a
new book in IWC is on the market, written by Alan Myers, Ralph Ehrismann, Aron
Mathe, Giovanni Luchetti and me. It covers the period from 1875 to 1890, so
the period of Seeland and the early Rauschenbach period until the advent of
the well known and documented Cal. 52/53 subsequent.
The collectors invited to attend the fair Watches and Wonders should have got
one copy each as a present. But more than obviously the logistic service
provider is incompetent and up to now was not able to deliver them. It is hard
to believe, but obviously that is as it is.
In the meantime several fellow collectors approached me and asked questions on
the book. In a nutshell: It is alike the "Jones Book", so a book written by
collectors for collectors. It features details of the calibres produced in
that era allowing to identify watches showing up on the internet and at
auction and sheds some light on the historical and economic background.
It is in English only, but I'm sure every collector interested in that period
will be happy to get the book as nearly no reliable information on that period
is available elsewhere.
I leave it to our moderator and our fellow collectors to judge on this book.
However, those who want to be prepared for the ongoing spring auction season
or continously monitor ebay and other platforms for watches from that period
should consider to buy this book before bidding.
Best regards
Thomas Koenig
