About a week ago I saw a possible announcement from Michael Friedberg on Facebook of a limited edition titanium Big Pilot, with the 5002 dial. The picture I saw was very interesting, it looks like a beautiful watch. The combination of titanium and Big Pilot appeals to me, so, if the details are right, I am interested. Is there any information about how to get information about these details, and how to apply? Thank you!
Well, I am not sure if we are really permitted to discuss this openly in this forum (I hope we are).
From what I could tell, it is a remake of a 5002, only now with a matte-finished titanium case. So, all the specs of a 5002 still apply (I imagine), down to the movement it uses.
Mr. Grainger-Herr did comment (if I am not mistaken) that if he rallied enough "votes" or "likes" from his particular instagram post, he would have the watches made. From what I could tell, I think he already got enough support to make them... the question is: how many would he plan to make, and who would be lucky enough to get one.
I wonder how I can make sure that I receive the necessary information to subscribe to this watch in time: can I put my name or email address on a preliminary list somewhere? A few years ago I was sadly informed too late, and by accident, about the titanium Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar, so no joy there. It would be great to be able to be successful now. Should I mail Mr. Grainger Herr personally, or via info at iwc dot com?
Thank you! If this counts as registering, that's fine. I added a number I like, and clicked on the follow-button, let's see what will happen: I wonder whether this will be a matter of weeks or of months. Exciting!
Just signed up for the forums when I saw this post. Will be following it closely. Curious about the pricing. Hopefully it wouldn't be too far off the stainless steel model. A lighter Big Pilot would be nice, but I love my IW500912 all the same. Definitely a fan of the brand. Thanks for the heads-up.
