Still filled with great memories of Watches and Wonders 2026 and the joy of meeting the Collectors Forum group and many fascinating people from IWC, I decided it was time for a new purchase from IWC Schaffhausen. Since, to my knowledge, this watch hasn’t been featured in detail here on the forum yet, I thought I’d go ahead and do so.

The latest addition to the collection is one, that I’d been eyeing for a while but had always been unsure about due to its 44mm size: the IWC Ingenieur Climate Action Ref. IW323402. I’ve always found the look of this watch very appealing; it’s so different from other models with its white/silver dial, ceramic bezel, and yellow, almost neon-colored accents on the dial.

So when I came across a very good deal on this watch, I didn’t hesitate for long and, despite my uncertainty about the size, went ahead and bought it right away. A few days later, it was already at my doorstep, and I’m very happy with how the watch wears.

Here’s a brief overview of some specs:

The IWC Ingenieur Climate Action Ref. IW323402 was produced between 2008 and 2009 in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces. The 44mm case is made of stainless steel, is 14mm thick, and features a ceramic bezel as well as ceramic elements on the caseback. The caseback bears a nice engraving celebrating IWC Schaffhausen as a “Carbon Neutral Company” and attesting to its support for Voluntary Action on Climate Change.

Purists might say that the Climate Action isn’t a "true" Ingenieur in that it isn’t magnetically shielded; for me personally, that isn’t so important, and I’m much happier that the in-house Caliber 80111 is ticking inside the watch. It’s fitted with an integrated IWC hybrid leather/rubber strap with yellow contrast stitching. And this strap was, I suspect, the one the watch was sold with back in 2008 or 2009 and therefore in very bad shape. So it was time for me to pay a visit to the IWC Boutique for a new strap, and here I’d like to highlight the excellent service provided by John from the IWC Boutique in Stuttgart. John was the kind of salesperson I couldn’t have imagined better; attentive, interested, and you could tell right away that we shared the passion for watches. I sought advice on the straps and opted for the black hybrid strap without contrast stitching, which makes the watch look even more stealthy now.

John was also kind enough to give a detailed tour of the boutique and offered me to try on a few models, like the Portugieser Ceratanium, which I was able to experience for the first time.

All in all, another great experience with an interesting watch and IWC! Below a few more pictures:
