Hello, my IWC pocket watch has the dial broken betweew II and III. It is an old model, serial 64280, silver case serial 80404. I would like to replace the dial, is it possible? How can I do it and at what cost? Thank you!

    Hello,

You have an extremely rare Schutzenuhr from 1891.

There were 101 pieces, cal. IWC ( 52) 19 ligne made, for the Schutzenfest of Ebnat-Kapell.

They rarely come on the market.( I have never seen one).

There are different ways to solve this problem.

You can offer it to IWC schaffhausen, but it is very uncertain that they have an identical dial ( too old).. Moreover, IWC will do as well a complete service and it will cost you 1000-2000 euro at least. It will be returned to you 'as new'.

A second possibility is to let restore the dial by a specialist enamal restorer. IWC does not restore enamel. Estimated cost 300-400 euro.

I would go for a third option if you have some patience. On ebay old IWC pocket watches and parts with the same size and the same dial are now and then offered. Cal. 52 was the most made pocked calibre ever, by IWC. Be sure that the dial has Roman indices as Arabic indices were not made in 1891 for this particular watch.. From the 3 choices, this will be the cheapest one.

    Kind regards,

    Adrian,
