    Hi Guys

first post here and glad to be aboard

I have picked up a couple of watches which I believe to be IWC 52's, imported to the UK by Stauffer & Co - marked S&Co and Peerless.

I have read that these may or may not be IWC - but they appear, to my untrained eye, identical to IWC 52's Ive seen online. I am writing to confirm if so with the experts here :). The second of the two has an unusual snail cam regulator. All information regarding them, much appreciated.

    Thankyou and Happy Christmas

    Very interesting watches!

The Snail Cam Regulator is beautiful!

They certainly look like Cal. 52 movements to me

One watch appears to have movement number 347454 - which returns as Caliber 52 from 1905

Please post the number of the other watch, as it is neat clear enough for me to read......

Peerless is the case manufacturer, and the Stauffer history is complicated and others know it better than I.

    Thank You BRICABRAC

From the numbers you posted - the second watch also has a Cal. 52 movement dating from 1897.

As I mentioned previously, the relationship between International Watch Co. and Seeland was complicated at that time.

Thankyou again Mark - appreciate this

Could you explain the link between IWC, Seeland & my watch - is my Peerless/Satuffer related to Seeland?

I am concerned that again when I post some 'bot' posts as well - you asked the administrator to remove one, and they did

    but another has been posted??

    many thanks
