    Hi all,

new to this community. I just got this Portuguese 5445 model, on the back around the bezel top left it shows portugieser 1939 and on the sapphire back it states edition 2008. anyone can enlighten me on why there is this difference compare to the one i see on the website?? thanks!

Indeed these were released in the first batches of the Vintage collection watches. I specifically bought a VC Ingenieur with their corresponding dates.

We were informed that it was not properly authentic to call the watch a Portuguiser from 1939 - since it isn't and therefore as a secondary thought aka reaction IWC then added Edition 2008. You will find some posts about this in the archive.

I specifically asked for the Ingenieur engraving like this knowing they would be rare and quirky.

My steel 5445 says likewise, my rose gold 5445, a year later, not. It is nice to have both, although I rarely look at it. I understood that the withdrawal of the year was lawyer imposed, or strongly instigated.

    Kind regards,
    Paul
