Acknowledging this reference dates to 1967-1973, and styles were different, I have a couple of questions for the collective wisdom:
1) Was it customary for these watches to be purchased with chains? I'm unclear if people even wore pocket watch chains in the 70's.
2) Would those chains have been procured from IWC, or independently from a local jeweler? If IWC, would it even be worth contacting IWC at this point in time?
In either case, my new & inbound watch has a stainless steel case, finding a chain online that is period-correct that is slender enough to match the case dimensions while having a clasp that fits seems to be a challenge. If anybody has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!
Right now I have 4 variants of search criteria all hinging around "vintage", "NOS", "Waldemar", while excluding terms like "nickel", "alloy", "plated", and similar.
