i'm new to the iwc community and have yet to purchase an iwc but was very interested in the chronograph classic or yacht club. I'm not familiar with the curved watch strap pins but was wondering if i could put the santoni alligator strap (designed for the classic) on to the yacht club and if that would look completely out of place.
Well, I'm sure to be the minority here but I prefer leather for the YC instead of the rubber - as much as I still cannot understand why the YC has crown protecting shoulders while the Aquatimers do not have these protectors. IMHO either both, or none, or AT yes Port no. After all a diver's watch needs it at least as much as a sailor's watch. (With most of both there'll never happen any diving or yachting...)
I took a look at both watches last year and had the same question to the AD. The most important fact here is that the strap for the Yacht Club is thicker than for the Chrono Classic. This has been taken into account when designing the watch. But you can get the best of both worlds, kind of, as there is a rubber strap with a leather top available for the Yacht Club, making it look a bit more dressy. When you are a desk diver like most of us it is quite a good idea to order that strap.
Yes I think of the same explanation but still for me it's awkward that a 6 at watch has a better guarded crown than a 12 at watch... even the first watch with crown guard from the brand with the crown is and was a diver's watch first and foremost... :) just my two cents of course... Regards, Robert
