There are a couple other dates that I will remember, marked by my IWCs - such as:[/b]

MAR 1st, 2006 - The date my daughter was born. Check out the sparkly of that gem-burnished sky!!

DEC 20th, 2007 - the day I took delivery of my DaVinci Perpetual Edition Kurt Klaus (first one in the USA) and had to post a photo to the IWC Forum.

Help please - I am new at watch purchasing. I just bought a preowned IWC GTS Romain Platinum Silver Dial Black Strap Auto watch at a reputable jeweler in town as a gift, but they have no papers on it.
Is that a huge deal? It appears that is may be from what I am reading now.
What do I do now?
I can take it back within a day or two - should I since it doesn't have papers?
How do they prove authenticity?
What are the pros/cons for not having the papers?

Hello all of you out there in IWC world.

I'm pleased to say that after several years of looking, I'm awaiting delivery my first IWC wristwatch. It's a manual Portofino and I'm guessing it's from the late 80's / early 90's with roman numerals in 18ct gold with a small seconds dial (ref 2534).

Can anyone fill me in as to the background of the watch, ie date of manufacture, movement type, number manufactured, guide price etc etc.

Any information will be a great help, just can't wait to get it on my wrist.

that I bought a platinum IWC romain on ebay 2 days ago, without knowing anything about it.
it seems, that the golden ones have date and central second an an automatic caliber by Jager le coultre, whereas the platinum one doesnt have anything at all an is manual, also by Jager le coultre.

it would be interesting, if these watch was produced in big series or in a limited edition.

does anybody know more about this?

It would be nice that the jewlery had the paers of the watch...
but after 2 years the guarantee is over.
You can take a look at the crown to see if the watch is an original IWC.
You should read the logo "probus scafussia" or a little fish drawn (the other IWC logo for the water resistant watches)...
This is as far as I'm concerned...
Down the case, sometimes never says anything if it's an old watch...
And, of course, go to buy it with somebody who really know about the theme...
