The back of the watch has an engraving naming the planets. The edition is limited to 1000.

It is diffcult to tell where the days of the week start. The nine o'clock postion lines up with horzizontal axis of the watch so the current display reads Sunday?

How does one of the stars "light up"?
Well, to me again very Hollywood or Mickey Mouse. This has absolutely nothing to do with what IWC used to be famous for, worldwide.
A very cool watch. Everybody can choose where he wants his Sunday, Monday, etc.

Regarding the day of the week, you are right! It can be whatever the user wants it to be. This is a very interesting way to display this information--I have never seen this done before.

Thanks Michael for posting pictures. I like the way watch looks. The dial is really nice (especially the stars). However, I probably agree with some comments above that it is some sort of deviation from what the IWC is known for. It just looks a bit too flashy. Despite that, I'm convinced that the watch design will appeal to many people.

Nice looking watch! Showing the days of the week here reminds me of the way the Rolex Sky Dweller shows the months. But these stars show it in a playful way, fitting within the backdrop of the sky with other seemingly random shown stars. I would say: a watch for the summer, where things are not to be taken too seriously. In the meantime the watch is of course the usual high quality watch!

I don't mind my watches with a dash of whimsy (Omega Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award, anyone?); I mean, really, where is it written that manufactures can't let their hair down once in a while, and have some fun?
So, yeah, kudos to IWC for adding a little bit extra to make this charitable release just that much more special.

I am curious about the "jumping star" day display - apparently the gold star does not change position daily as one would expect:
"Each day of the week, this captivating day display lights up a different star in glittering gold. However, the change does not take place in any particular order: the gleaming golden star appears to jump at random between the seven different positions on the dial."
I guess you would memorize the order and the starting point of the star display in order to translate that into the current day.
I guess the same disc mechanism is used as when showing the days of the week in the traditional way. So there is a disc with several gold spots instead of the days of the week. Every spot is shown once in a while while other spots are covered by the dial. Intricate! Whether this feature can then be used for the days of the week remains to be seen, if not it is just a fun feature: not a real problem, most of the watches can easily do without the day function.

Dial looks kind of too busy to me. Not one of my favourites. Quite nice though, 44mm is interesting. I would have guessed 43mm. And antimagnetic with the blue dial is also interesting.
A bit to gimmicky.
I think I have to add this to my Doppel collection.
